Pennsylvania Attorneys Handling Driver's Licensing Issues
Until you lose your license, you don't realize how valuable the privilege to drive is. At Caldwell & Kearns, we represent motorists in Pennsylvania who are dealing with driver's licensing issues, including license suspensions.
To find out about your options for keeping your license and ability to drive, contact our law office by calling 717-232-7661.
Notice of Suspension
If you have received a notice of suspension from PennDOT, you have 30 days to surrender your license or file an appeal of the suspension. Examples of offenses which may trigger a license suspension include:
- Speeding
- Reckless driving
- Hit and run
- Driving without a license
- Driving with a suspended license
- DUI / drunk driving
- Refusal of chemical testing for blood-alcohol content
Our firm's attorneys can assist in appealing the suspension. We can determine if PennDOT's actions were consistent with the law and work to protect your license in any way possible.
Refusing a Blood-Alcohol Content (BAC) Test
If you have been pulled over for suspicion of drunk driving and refused a BAC test, your license will be suspended for one year — regardless of guilt. Worse, driver's licensing issues are separate from criminal charges, so you could be facing additional license suspension time if convicted of the DUI charge. If you refused a BAC test, you should contact an attorney immediately — even if you have not received notice of a DUI charge.
Commercial Drivers — CDL Holders
Driver's licensing issues can greatly impact commercial drivers' ability to work. While most drivers will simply pay off a speeding ticket or risk having points added to their licenses, for a commercial driver, these penalties could result in loss of license and ultimately the ability to work.
At Caldwell & Kearns, we are mindful of the risks a CDL holder faces if a traffic ticket is received. We are skilled at fighting traffic offense charges of all types and at negotiating resolutions that help minimize the impact on commercial drivers’ records. If you are an out-of-state driver, we can appear on your behalf at required hearings in Pennsylvania.
