Attorney James Goldsmith in Mediation

At Caldwell & Kearns, P.C., we have been serving clients throughout the Harrisburg community since the 1920s. During that time, we have earned a reputation for our depth of experience and our talent for helping clients achieve their goals. Although we have always had a reputation for being prepared to fight, fewer clients know about our experience in mediation and arbitration.

Attorney James Goldsmith and other lawyers at our firm serve as neutral mediators and arbitrators in a range of legal matters, including:

  • Construction
  • Commercial matters
  • Business disputes
  • Contracts

The Benefits of Mediation

When parties disagree on important matters, the issue can be resolved by going to court and allowing a judge to determine the outcome or by working together to reach an agreement. In mediation, both parties work with a mediator to reach common ground. Rather than focusing on the problem at hand, mediators are trained to look at the underlying cause of the problem. This enables parties to not only solve the problem at hand, but also to prevent similar disputes from arising in the future.

In addition, parties who will continue to interact in the future are often able to maintain a better relationship in mediation than in litigation. Going to court can create hostility, while working through mediation creates a chance for the parties to work together to reach an agreement.
