How to use the Legal Hotline

As you can imagine, the PAR legal Hotline is extremely popular. To assure that your legal questions are addressed in the most efficient manner, we ask our members to observe these simple rules:

  1. The hours of operation are 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m., weekdays. If your message is left outside of these hours it cannot be retrieved by the Hotline service.
  2. If your call is answered by an automated greeting during hours of operation, please leave the following information only: your first and last name, spelling your last name. Please give the first name you use when registering with your local and state associations. Leave your telephone number with your area code.
  3. Do not record your question on the Hotline’s answering service. Calls may be retrieved by administrative assistants who are charged with passing along your name and number only. Further, recording and retrieving messages takes time away from our returning calls.
  4. When leaving a message, speak clearly, slowly, and directly into the speaker of your phone, especially if using a cell phone. If using a cell phone, make sure that you have a strong signal. It never hurts to repeat your name and telephone number.
  5. When you eventually speak to the Hotline attorney, avoid the use of pronouns such as he, she, they, and instead use descriptions such as buyer agent, listing agent, seller, buyer.
  6. We aim to serve as many PAR members as possible. Calls made during Hotline hours are returned the same day. The number of calls placed during a Hotline session can be numerous. Be patient and give a number where you can be contacted!
